Two containers with similar overall dimensions can behave differently on the conveyor. Panel flatness, moulding variation, base stability, shoulder shape and the filled weight influence guide, belt and wipe-down settings.

Placement should be measured from agreed container datums. The drawing is qualitative and does not state a universal tolerance.

Application details that change the machine setup

  • Flat and rectangular packs: confirm the usable label panel, mould seams, recessed areas and whether opposite faces are parallel.
  • Oval packs: check orientation and side-belt contact because the container can rotate as pressure is applied.
  • Square packs: decide whether labels sit entirely on a panel or approach a corner.
  • Tapered packs: provide the top and bottom widths of the label panel and the final artwork shape.
  • Round packs: decide whether two discrete labels are required or whether a single wraparound label is the better presentation.
Pack stabilityState whether the product rocks, flexes or changes shape when side pressure is applied. Filled and empty packs can behave differently.
Surface conditionDeclare moisture, oil, powder, mould-release residue, texture or low-surface-energy plastic so label adhesion can be considered.
Label positionSupply annotated photographs or drawings for both faces, including the datum and any keep-clear area around seams, handles or embossing.
Multiple labelsConfirm whether front and back labels are different sizes, use separate rolls, need barcode orientation or require a third application face.
Trial samplesSend representative production variation, not only a perfect sample. Include the intended cap or closure and the real label roll.
