Both machine types can apply separate front and back labels. The better route depends on how products arrive, how consistently they are spaced and oriented, the operator work that remains, the format range and the controls needed around the labeller.

Start with the product flow

Record whether bottles arrive by hand, from a filler or capper, or from an accumulation conveyor. Inconsistent gaps and unstable orientation can limit useful output even when the applicator heads can dispense labels faster.

Measure the remaining labour

Include loading, spacing, label-roll changes, format adjustments, inspection, reject handling and finished-pack removal. A machine comparison is incomplete if it ignores the work that remains around the labeller.

Test the most difficult format

Use the lightest, most tapered or least stable pack and the most demanding label construction during the trial. A route that works only with the easiest format may not cover the real production range.

When compact is a credible production choice

Compact equipment can be the right answer where batches are shorter, available space is limited, products can be presented consistently and the required checks can be completed reliably by the operating team. It should be specified against the actual loading method and sustained batch routine rather than described only as “lower speed”.
