Define the label layout

Before comparing machines, decide whether the bottle needs one wraparound label, a front and back label, a top label, a neck label or another combination. The machine route changes with the finished pack layout.

For separate front and rear labels, a twin-side labeller is usually the correct starting point.

• Two separate front and rear labels.
• Top, bottom or neck labels.
• Special orientation or panelled labels.

Match the bottle shape

Round bottles, flat bottles, oval bottles, square containers and tapered bottles all behave differently. A machine that suits one shape may require different guides, sensors or setup for another.

The more varied the bottle range, the more important changeover and format support become.

• Round, flat, oval, square or rectangular shape.
• Bottle height, width and label-panel dimensions.
• Filled weight and centre of gravity.
• Closure or cap overhang.

Check label material

Label material affects sensor selection and final finish. Paper labels, film labels and clear labels should be checked before the final machine recommendation.

If the label is transparent, metallic or very thin, samples are useful for sensor confirmation.

• Material and backing.
• Label gap and roll direction.
• Adhesive and storage conditions.
• Barcode or variable data requirements.

Plan the production line

The labeller may work as a standalone machine or as part of a line with filling, capping, coding and inspection. The earlier the line context is shared, the more accurate the shortlist and quote can be.

• Existing or planned conveyor height.
• Line direction and available space.
• Installation, training and aftercare needs.
